Kundalini Yoga
Yoga comes from the Sanskrit Yuj, which means “to unite;” the goal of yoga is to unite your body, mind and spirit so that you may experience your consciousness with the infinite consciousness.
You achieve unification through the daily practice of asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation and mudras (hand postures). While each yoga style emphasizes different areas, Kundalini Yoga targets the subconscious and according to Yogi Bhajan (the yogi who brought Kundalini to the West), it is the fastest method to achieve enlightenment.
Kundalini Yoga is known as the yoga of awareness.
It varies from other traditional forms of yoga and it is quite different from current mainstream yoga (in case you were wondering, that would be called Hatha). While your focus remains on your breath, Kundalini Yoga differs by involving the recitation of mantras, meditation and chanting. There are thousands of different yoga sets (kriyas), each with their own specific purposes; some are really easy and some are really hard, but they all work! There are kriyas for self-esteem, anxiety, sexual trauma and even motion sickness.
Kundalini Yoga is designed to work on your subconscious mind by clearing out what is not yours, so that you may experience the authentic “you.”
I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan) for fifteen years and I have been teaching yoga for twelve years as a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher (Level 1). I spent my high school years at Miri Piri Academy in India, where we undertook a curriculum designed by Yogi Bhajan that centered around yoga, meditation and movement. I do also practice Hatha Yoga and I have taken two Level 2 Kundalini Yoga courses (Conscious Communication, Authentic Relationships).
Kundalini Yoga has changed my life! When you are ready to change yours, contact me! I will give kriyas and meditations to support you in your healing and in your growth.
